Free Aung San Suu Kyi!

Aung San Suu Kyi is one of the world's most renown freedom fighters and advocates of nonviolence, having served as the figurehead for Burma's struggle for democracy since 1988. She is the world's only imprisoned Nobel Peace Prize winner - having been under house arrest for 11 of the past 17 years. She must be released- and this blog is tracking all the calls for her release. The world is crying out for her release!

Bring Burma to Your Campus! Start a Chapter this summer!

US Campaign for Burma will be launching major campaigns in Fall pushing to raise the global awareness about Burma, and especially the mass atrocities going on in Eastern Burma. So if you are tired of most of the students at your school getting a puzzled look on their face whenever you mention Burma, and you want to be a part of the movement, sign up to start a USCB chapter at your university!

It’s easy, just send me an email (thelma@uscampaignforburma.org), and I will send you all the materials you need- a how-to organizing packet, videos, reports, posters, etc.

One of the most key actions that need to happen in the Burma movement is getting the general public aware of what’s going on – already 3,000 villages have been destroyed in Eastern Burma (which to put in context for you is twice as many as have been destroyed in Darfur).

We need your help! Act now!
